Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow

Yes - we saw snow yet again along our travels!

Not that much, but snow just the same. The title for this post also comes from one of Linda's favorite movies 'White Christmas'. Bing Crosby and crew sing all about snow on a train ride to Pine Tree, Vermont. We took a couple of day trips into Vermont from our base in New Hampshire.

We tried to capture the largest flakes falling at the RV park in this photo. We had no accumulation, but areas in northern New Hampshire and Vermont received as much as 12-18". Fortunately, our plans were flexible enough to work around this weather.
We captured this glimpse of late April snow at this Vermont ski area.

Norman Rockwell, one of our favorite artists, spent great amounts of time in Vermont. Near Rutland, a museum has been established that displays all of his Saturday Evening Post front cover illustrations. Craig and I enjoyed a trip down memory lane and the boys enjoyed the humor. The illustrations capture a bygone era of patriotism, family and 'clean' humor. We would love to see our country return to its roots where everyone could enjoy the light hearted humor and sentiment expressed in these illustrations.

We took a detour to see the capitol, Montpelier with it's beautifully domed seat of state government.

A major stop was in Burlington, alongside Lake Champlain. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day to enjoy lunch with a view!

Along another trek to see Calvin Coolidge's birthplace and boyhood home, we enjoyed roadside views of forests and pristine lakes.

A sugar shack, at rest, caught our eye near Plymouth Union.President Coolidge's family lived in this remote area of Vermont and we can see why in later years, he chose to vacation in the Black Hills of South Dakota - beautiful mountains, rugged rocks, dense forests and clear running streams!

Driving through the town of Woodstock was a treat with it's broad boulevard.

We'll close with our photos of several covered bridges along our way. We've seen them throughout areas of New England and made a point of taking photos when we spotted these.
