Craig and I remember a message in which we were told that early Christians greeting one another with 'Christ Is Risen!' or 'He is risen!'. Well, we don't remember Christ in that way in our everyday greetings, but we can certainly do so on this day when we remember the miracle of the empty tomb!
We have modified our tradition for Easter this year, but we kept the resurrection rolls for our breakfast. We take frozen rolls, let them thaw and rise, place a marshmallow (Jesus), cinnamon and sugar (embalming spices) in the stretched dough, close the dough around the marshmallow and seal it tight, then bake. When the rolls are done, they each are empty inside - just like the tomb.
This year, we didn't seal the rolls up too well, the marshmallow melted on the outside instead of within the roll, the sugar smoked and the smoke alarm went off in the RV. We still enjoyed the rolls, could still see the emptiness in the roll and refresh one another with the Biblical account of Jesus death and resurrection.
Whatever way you and your family celebrate Easter, we pray you will be blessed by the memory of Jesus sacrifice and God's love for you.
'HE IS RISEN!'
